Angiopoietin-1 and 2 in Falciparum Malaria: Its Dysregulation and Role as Biomarkers for Prediction of Outcome
Abstract
Angiopoietin-1 and 2 maintain the integrity of endothelium, which plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of severe malaria. We study its dysregulation and utility as biomarker. We enrolled 34 patients of uncomplicated, 108 patients of severe falciparum malaria (SM), and 30 healthy controls in this study. Plasma ANG-1 and 2 were estimated with sandwich ELISA and analyzed for predictive accuracy.
