ABOUT JOURNAL

SF Journal of Family Medicine explores the broad scope of healthcare delivered to individuals and families across the lifespan. The journal emphasizes research that contributes to comprehensive, continuous, accessible, and patient-centered primary care while recognizing the important relationship between individual health, family circumstances, and community environments.

Its areas of interest include preventive medicine, common acute and chronic diseases, primary care diagnostics, maternal and child health, adolescent and elderly care, mental health in primary care, health promotion, lifestyle-related conditions, family health, and continuity of care. Research addressing primary healthcare systems, clinical decision-making, community-oriented practice, and approaches to improving health outcomes is also welcomed.

All types of scholarly manuscripts relevant to family medicine and primary healthcare may be considered. The journal encourages contributions from family physicians, primary care clinicians, researchers, public health professionals, and allied healthcare disciplines, promoting evidence-based approaches to comprehensive patient and family care.

Case Report

A Child with Acute Hemiparesis: A Case Report

This is a case of an eight years old boy initially presented with right sided hemiparesis. His diagnosis was Moyamoya disease and been treated conservatively at initial stage. This disease is recurrent in nature, and the patient developed another stroke episode within 3 months. He was referred to neurosurgical team and was planned for a revascularization surgery for a better long-term outcome.

Successful Pregnancy Outcome in Eisenmenger Syndrome in Pregnancy: A Case Report

We present an antenatal case with established Eisenmenger Syndrome (ES) who refused termination of pregnancy. Her pregnancy continued until an emergency caesarean section for IUGR at 31 weeks gestation. This case report illustrates an example of a good health care model especially for primary care level that led to a successful pregnancy outcome in a high-risk patient.

Determinants of Health & Health Seeking Behavior among Families

Background: There have been studies on morbidity patterns among families, but no study has been undertaken on health determinants and health seeking behavior of the people of Kerala especially in Kozhikode. All diseases can be prevented or modified if we address the lifestyle and determinants of health among families. And thus, investigating the broader contextual issues can help us improve the health services offered and see if their health needs are met or not.
